Summary
Teddy awakens in his bedroom on the fourth floor of the Doyle house after having a dream in which he is running. He rises and turns to the statue on the dresser and taps its halo three times, an act that he has been doing since early childhood. Teddy showers and descends to the kitchen, where he finds Doyle and Sullivan. Sullivan reveals that Tennessee has no insurance card, and when Teddy suggests they get her some insurance, Doyle states, “It’s not our problem, Teddy” (251). Sullivan points out Doyle’s hypocrisy, but before the bickering gets too intense Teddy tells Doyle and Sullivan he plans to bring Father Sullivan to the hospital that day. Sullivan jests that with Uncle Sullivan healing her Tennessee will not need insurance. Then, when Teddy tells Sullivan that he should go to the hospital because Father Sullivan wants...
