Rule 34 by Charles Stross is a novel that takes a futuristic look at life in Scotland with a crime riddled society in need of the kind of policing that can only be provided with help from the monitoring of an artificial intelligence. Liz is almost at the end of her shift when she gets the IM that an Inspector is wanted on a FATACC scene. The death begins as an accidental event without witnesses, but the first responder, Constable Berman, calls Jase in. There is no video and the cleaner who discovers the body is having tea while he logs the scene.
