Summary

In Chapter Four, Alina returned to her body. She felt both guilty about using her powers to visit the Darkling and elated to know that she could do the same sort of magic that he could do. She went to the public service with the whole congregation. The Apparat gave a compelling speech about how Alina had conquered her foes and was now heading off on a mission ordained by divine providence. Alina was still uncomfortable with the worshippers, because she did not like the way they looked at her as if she were a savior when she felt like just a regular girl.
