Epilogue: The Right Man, Chapters 123-126 Summary
Three weeks after Dr. Francis's death, Alex's life starts to return to normal. Alex continues to think about leaving the police force. He can't bring himself to do it, but he is suffering from professional burnout. Although Alex no longer works insane hours, Betsey still does. She and the FBI continue to try to locate the fifteen million dollars Francis stole during the MetroHartford robbery. Alex realizes he is lonely, and this underscores the loss he still keenly feels from his breakup with Christine. Nana directs Alex and Sampson to a special church service. It is supposed to heal the differences and wrongdoings between the sexes. In some ways Alex finds it laughable, but he does leave feeling better than when he entered. Alex confides in Sampson that Christine had left for Seattle...
