Sally's Upper West Side Apartment

Sally’s apartment is symbolic of her stagnation and fear of commitment. Despite the fact that the apartment is small, she stays there even once she can afford better. For most of the novel, Sally is not willing to move forward, and this is symbolized by how she holds onto the apartment and how her former roommate moved on. The apartment does, however, start to become stifling during the pandemic showing that Sally is about to be ready for growth.
