Summary

After the line break, Hillary is in class teaching a family law seminar and a student named Rob Newcomb approaches her afterwards. He tells her the syllabi is too packed with “women’s problems” (187). Hillary tries to explain that gender is important in family law and he says, “Not everything in law is related to the subjugation of women . . . And don’t roll your eyes at me” (188). Hillary leaves the class feeling unsettled and bumps into James and tells him what happened with Rob. James defends Hillary, and Hillary realizes not many male colleagues recognize gender dynamics in class.
