Chapters 8-14 Summary
In Chapter 8, Libby returns home from school to find her angry aunt waiting for her. Aunt Marge confronts Libby about her stealing and punishes her by making her clean the filthy house. Libby begins in the kitchen. As she begins going through the junk on the table, she discovers two envelopes addressed to her and a letter from her father. Libby confronts her aunt, but Aunt Marge is unapologetic and claims the letters stopped coming months ago.
In Chapter 9, several weeks later, Peter comes to spend the entire day with Libby. At Parfrey's Glen, Libby mentions that she would like to see Peter perform, so he puts on an impromptu performance for her. This shocks Libby into wanting to be honest with Peter. Libby tells Peter how her entire family was in a car accident, but her mother and sister did...
