Summary

Chapter 23 takes place in Georgia in 1992. Hiram is still married to Jo-Beth, and he has two sons now, Lawton and Hunter. He loves his sons, and he is generally happy with the income his boat affords him. However, he still misses Annabelle, whom he apparently has not seen in years. Chapter 24 returns to the second day of Hunter and Lawton’s expedition. They camp for the night and drink bourbon. Hunter asks if Lawton likes being a Navy SEAL, and Lawton says, “I try not to” (111). Chapter 25 returns to Fort Caroline, 1564. As the threat of mutiny rises, La Caille flees; Le Moyne decides to stay in order to try to be a presence of morality. Fourneaux leads the mutiny. He forces Laudonnière to sign a warrant granting them freedom to attack the Spanish settlements. Fourneaux and the other 65 mutineers then sail away. A...
