Chapters 23 - 33 Summary

In Chapter 23, not one single man has ever stuck by Lexi's siren ancestors, so Lexi considers herself naive for imagining Cole might. At school, Lexi ends things with Cole. Cole is devastated, and Lexi is torn apart. At lunch, Cole is not there, but Erik is, and he has captivated the group. Lexi sees Cole watching from the lunch line, and realizes that Cole now understands that Erik has taken his place in Lexi's heart.

Erik and Lexi later go to see the sunset. Lexi confesses all the things she wants to do, like go to homecoming, play a sport, and move far away. Erik rubs her back.

In Chapter 24, Cole confronts Lexi about Erik, and tells her to have a nice life without him. Erik and Lexi spend the next evening on the boardwalk and race gokarts. They also play...
