Summary

Chapter nine begins with Dr. Bisset. He has come with the Night Doctors. The Doctors came because they are intrigued by Maryse. They capture the Grand Cyclops and bring her into their Angel Oak Tree to dissect.

Butcher Clyde comes after Maryse saying, “Going to kill you! Then eat you! Make you meat!” (163). Maryse hears the cacophony coming from the voices inside Butcher Clyde, but she has her own music. Her music is made of the “struggle and fierce love” of those who came before her, and as such, it is much more powerful (164). She kills Butcher Clyde, and Dr. Bisset goes around and gathers up all the pieces of meat that have escaped and puts them in his medical bag.
