Point of View
The novel is told from the perspective of an omniscient narrator. The narrator is most closely aligned with the protagonist, Isaiah, but often ventures off into the minds of other characters to promote the plot and aids in the characterization. It is not uncommon that chapters will split off and give the reader an account of a second or even third character’s past history, thoughts, or motivations. Such accounts make it possible for readers to understand how elements in the plot that took place in Ide's previous novel, IQ, impact the events in Righteous as the author provides the necessary backstory through the characters.
