Importance: Isaiah thinks this in the Prologue when he finds the car that hit Marcus in the hit-and-run. The quote shows Isaiah's state of mind at the beginning of the narrative and provides the reason of why he is like he is. He is letting grief wreck his life, as he cannot move on due to the grief he still feels eight years after his brother's death.
