Summary
In the Prologue, the first rich person problem noted is described as being when a rich person cannot get his regular table at a fabulous restaurant because another, richer person is using it. The second rich person problem noted comes when Alfred Cheng, the person who happens to be among those seated at the ideal restaurant table, cannot get his on-call physician to care for his elderly sister, who has just had a heart attack, because he is busy with another patient in Australia. The third rich person problem noted comes when the other passengers on the airplane on which the doctor is riding are forced to go to Singapore so that the doctor can attend to Alfred’s sister, Su Yi.
