Summary
In Chapter 7, Miriam takes balloons to Micah in her hospital room. When they are alone, Micah asks what happened. Miriam knocks over a tray of food. Micah pushes for an answer. Miriam says she did not do anything. Then, she says, “It was a mistake.” She urges Micah to drop it. A doctor interrupts the conversation. The doctor says diabetic patients sometimes experience a brief remission shortly after being diagnosed. It is not common when patients were diagnosed two years ago, as Micah was. He warns that diabetes is incurable, but says it is good news. Mr. Johnson shouts praises. He thanks Samuel for healing Micah.
