Chapters 17 and 18 Summary
Chapter 17. Bliss recalls her childhood and how nobody spoke of her real mother. The only mother Bliss knows is her father's second wife and mother of her half-sister. Now that Bliss thinks that Allegra Van Alen might be her mother, she goes to the hospital to visit Allegra, who is in a coma. When Bliss leaves the room, Allegra begins to scream.
Chapter 18. Mimi is on the phone with the event planner for her bonding ceremony with Jack as she walks into the room where the Committee meeting is to take place. She sees Schuyler and Oliver enter. She notices the bite marks on Oliver's neck.
Chapters 17 and 18 Analysis
Allegra screaming after Bliss leaves the room indicates that Allegra recognizes her daughter. Mimi intends on blackmailing Schuyler to stop seeing Jack by threatening to reveal her relationship with Oliver.
