Hospital
The hospital is the first setting in the novel. The first thing Chase remembers about his new life is waking up in the hospital surrounded by strangers who turn out to be his mother and brother. The hospital is presented as a frightening and isolated place. There are fluorescent lights on the ceiling. Chase wakes up on a hospital bed, attached to an IV machine. Dr. Cooperman explains what amnesia is inside the hospital.
Chase's House
Chase's house is a two-story home in a residential suburban neighborhood in Hiawassee, Georgia. Chase lives alone with his mother. His father moved out and remarried, then started a new family of his own. Chase's older brother lives away from home at college.
