Chapters 15-17 Summary
Kiriel awakens, exulted to be alive for another day, exclaiming to Peanut, "the repo men haven't come yet"—a reference to being "repossessed" by the devils of hell after his own "possession" of Shaun's body. He longs to touch Peanut and have closer contact with the cat, but declines to do so. He also expresses his determination to make a mark on human existence in the little time that he is spending on the earthly plane. At breakfast, Mrs. Simmons remarks that he may have had a bad dream that night. She hopes that "Shaun" will again invite Jason to play video games with him and Bailey, and asks him to remind Jason to take his medication.
