Summary

In Chapter 34, narrated by Kenna, Ledger is angry when he gets out of the truck at his house. Kenna can see he is sorry his anger has scared her. He makes her face him and tells her that he is sorry she lost Scotty. He kisses Kenna softly. When she kisses him back, Ledger gets a condom from the glove box, and they make love.

In Chapter 35, narrated by Ledger, Ledger is surprised when Kenna asks to help him with the flooring. For a change, Kenna does not look like she is carrying the weight of the world. Kenna and Ledger are making out on the floor when his parents interrupt them.
