Summary
In Chapter 15, narrated by Kenna, Kenna believes from her experience as a child with a bad mother that it is better for a child to know her mother cares about her than to think her mother does not care at all. Kenna was put in foster care twice because her mother was so neglectful.
In Chapter 16, narrated by Ledger, Patrick tells Ledger he does not believe there is any way they could fit Kenna into their lives without it affecting their sanity. He reminds Ledger that Kenna killed Scotty and asks Ledger not to make them feel guilty for not being able to forgive that. Again, Ledger wonders what Scotty would think about the way his parents are treating Kenna.
