Importance: This is the engraved sign that hangs at the foot of the Harbor Bridge. It is important because the Campbell family does feel desperate over the loss of their son for so many years and again feel a desperation after his reappearance. This is the bridge where the elderly walkers find the floating dead body. Before Justin reappears, the reader isn’t sure if the dead body is Justin or not. The bridge is important to the town and many of the people in the town have feelings of desperation where Justin and his grieving family are concerned. In this Southern area, most people have a strong faith and turn to God for comfort.
