Clara Grant

Clara Grant is one of the main characters and narrators of the novel. She is the daughter of Morgan and Chris Grant. She is Jenny’s niece. Clara is not only devastated by the death of her father and aunt in a car wreck, but she is also going through a coming of age period. Because she is grieving and wants to feel numb, Clara slips out of her father’s funeral and experiments with drugs. She begins seeing Miller because he comforts her and makes her smile, even though she feels guilty being happy about anything so soon after the deaths of her father and aunt.

Clara suspects something is going on between her mother and Jonah even before she catches them kissing. When Clara witnesses what she believes is a sign of betrayal, she takes out her anger on her mother. She loses her virginity...
