Summary
Chapter 8 returns to Clara’s point of view. Clara sneaks out and goes to the movie theater because she believes her mother is treating her unfairly. She hesitates when she sees Miller is at work, but then decides she is not going to let him stop her from watching movies. The movies have already started. Miller tells her that theater four is the emptiest. Miller joins her in the theater later. They talk about favorite movies. Clara feels guilty when she finds herself smiling.
When Clara arrives home, her phone is laying on her pillow. She considers it a peace offering from her mother. She cannot help but send Miller a message on Instagram thanking him for the movie. She sends him her phone number as well. A few minutes later he sends a text. She asks if he will save her number...
