Summary

In Chapter 1, narrated from the first-person point of view of Morgan in the present tense, Morgan tries to determine the cause of an emptiness she feels inside. She has a great boyfriend. Her little sister, Jenny, is her best friend even though they are opposite in personality. Jenny likes to party and experiment with drugs, but Morgan feels like she has to demonstrate responsibility for her sister, especially since their mother is not a good parent. Jenny is dating Jonah, Chris’ best friend. Jonah and Morgan have similar personalities, while Jenny and Chris have more in common.
