Summary
Chapter two begins with Micah awaking from a dream in which he finds an unattended baby in a grocery store aisle. After shrugging off the dream, Micah resumes his habitual routine and leaves his house to go on a run. It is described that Micah chooses an early hour for his run in order to avoid sidewalk congestion from dog-walkers and mothers dropping their children off at school. It is also described why Micah does not wear glasses when he runs.
As Micah returns home from his run, he is met by a young man who identifies Micah by name. The young man is Brink Adams, an 18-year-old college freshman. Micah invites Brink into his home for a cup of coffee after he learns that Brink is the son of Micah's girlfriend from college, Lorna Bartell.
