If a worker in the SVR winds up with this substance, which shows up only in special light, on himself or his clothing, the Russians suspect he has been meeting with an American.

This benzedrine tablet is a symbol of falseness. SVR workers give this tablet to Dominika to prepare her for her sexual encounter with Ustinov. Even though she felt no attraction for the man, it gave her a physical lift to allow her to perform believably when seducing him.
