Summary

Part II is titled City of Masks. Chapter 10 is titled “Labyrinth of Water.” Alec notes that the canals are smelly and Magnus calls that “ambiance.” They stay at the Belmond Hotel Cipriani, near the building that once housed the Crimson Hand's headquarters. Magnus insists on breakfast and tells Shinyun they will stop for three meals each day, sometimes planning their mission around a particular restaurant even. Alec asks Shinyun about her home and she says she lived in Korea. Magnus notes that Alec and Shinyun are animated as they talk about demons and how best to fight them. They travel to the building that was once the Crimson Hand headquarters. It is an elaborate building, and Magnus can imagine choosing it. There are many Downworlders around, preparing for a party. A satyr says Magnus is not invited because he is dating a Shadowhunter...
