Braden “Brady” Parks

Braden “Brady” Parks is the novel’s protagonist and narrator. He is 13 years old and lives in a semi-rural area in Maryland. His father makes a living as a crab fisher, and Brady often fishes for crabs as well. Brady lives with his mother and father. Brady’s younger sister, Amanda, died in a tragic accident when Brady was young. One day, when a neighbor and he young son go missing, Brady helps the search effort. He finds the young son, Ben, in the river and brings him back to shore. Unfortunately, Ben dies in the hospital. Brady is sad that he was not able to find and retrieve ben sooner. Brady offers to help Ben’s mother, Gina DiAngelo with tasks around her house and yard.
