Summary

G recalls his first meeting with Sad. Their relationship lasted six years; however, it was plagued with Sad’s infidelity. One day, G left him, having sent a farewell letter, which he had rewritten countless times. Meanwhile, back in the glacier, Sad and G find an auto mechanic, CMO, who offers to fix up their car. They go to a sort of lobby where a man greets Sad and says he knew he’d come.

In the next Wife of Brain section, the speaker informs the reader that this new development—that the road trip was not as spontaneous as it first appeared—is a kind of dramatic reversal. The speaker says they will soon meet a prophet. The subsequent dialogue between 4NO, an army friend of Sad’s, and G clarifies the identity of the friend Sad had said could see the future...
