Chapter Four: The Revelation About Gay Chinese Penguins! Summary
During the summer, Ruby's grandma Suzette falls all and dies. She was always a good grandma, someone Ruby was very close to, and she wasn't expected to pass away so quickly. Ruby went to visit her in the hospital before she died and her last words to Ruby were, "I'm going to take a nap now. Don't drink my orange juice" (p. 29). Those last words haunt Ruby because they don't make any sense. At the funeral, Ruby cries when grandma's friends give their speeches about what a lovely woman she was. Her father is absolutely beside himself with grief. After the funeral, on her way to the cemetery, Ruby runs into her ex-best friend, Nora, who has come to offer her condolences to the family.
