Summary
As Chapter 7 continues, Brigit happily agrees to spend some time with Wallace. They walk around outside, near the lake. They converse, and Wallace begins crying. He feels distraught and devastated, as he is unsure how to move forward with his life. Brigit cries with him, out of sympathy, and out of distress for her own troubles. Wallace tells her about the recent problems with Dana and Simone. Brigit informs Wallace that, because she is Chinese American, she has also faced racial discrimination in the lab. Wallace realizes that, while his problems are serious and valid, he might sometimes focuses to narrowly on his perspective. Wallace and Brigit briefly consider the idea of leaving the program and living together as roommates. That night, Miller arrives at Wallace’s apartment. Miller is clearly drunk and injured.
