Summary

In Chapter 10, Nick and Timothy started at Yale. Nick quickly came to feel that he wasn’t smart enough to be there and that he had only gotten in because of the Maeir family making large donations. Timothy settled in quickly, participating in lots of extracurricular activities and finding a boyfriend. In Chapter 11, Matthew continued to contact Nick, asking to see him, but Nick stopped replying to his messages, feeling let down and that Samuel was his real son. Nick began to have trouble sleeping due to experiencing the phenomenon of time stopping. He spoke to doctors and had a series of tests done which showed there was nothing wrong and that he was sleeping normally. The doctor told him he might be depressed.

In Chapter 12, Nick became withdrawn, exhausted, and increasingly sick. Lily told him not to come home for the holidays...
