Summary
In Chapter 1 of Car Hiaasen’s novel Razor Girl (Kindle Edition), a car rear-ends a Lane Coolman’s car as he is on his way to Key West to provide support for one of the stars he represents, Buck Nance, during a live gig. After everything is sorted out with the police, the driver, a red head named Merry asks Lane for a ride. He gives her one and is subsequently kidnapped. In the meantime, Buck goes on stage, but without a guitarist there and Lane, the performance is a disaster and Buck flees.
