Summary

In “Raised in Captivity,” an unnamed protagonist flying first class for the first time visited the airplane's restroom and discovered a puma sitting on the closed toilet lid. In shock, he exited the restroom and told his seatmate, an older man, what he had seen. The older man asked the protagonist how he supposed it might have gotten in there, and the protagonist responded with some theories. A flight attendant began taking lunch orders, and a woman in another row got up to use the restroom. The protagonist asked the older man if he thought they should warn her about the puma, and he responded, “That's not my problem. Or yours” (9).

In “Execute Again,” an unnamed narrator tells a story about his high school football coach, Jasper Lovelace, to journalists. He recalls Lovelace's odd coaching...
