Chapter 32, Blood Works Summary
Popov runs into Killgore in the cafeteria and tries to extract information about the project from him but is not successful. Killgore invites Popov to go horseback riding with him the next day. Popov and Killgore meet early in the morning for their ride. Kirk Maclean is riding as well and catches up with them. Maclean tells Killgore that the FBI had been questioning him about a missing girl. Kirk also refers to getting his B shot making Popov remember that his injection vile had the letter B on it. Killgore comments that the surrounding land will have buffalo and open fields. Popov sees farm houses and barns in the distance and asks Killgore how the neighbors will feel. Killgore responds with a question: What neighbors? Popov thinks to himself—what the hell is going on here?
