Clark's request to the CIA for a dedicated helicopter is approved. Lt. Colonel Daniel Mallory is assigned to Hereford as commander of the first copter unit for Rainbow. Clark and Chavez debrief Mallory on Rainbow and his prospective role with the secret unit.
Chester, Subject 4, is in a morphine-induced semi-conscious state as Archer injects potassium into his IV. Within minutes, Subject 4 is gone. Dr. Archer emphasizes the need for healthy subjects—all their current subjects are sick. Killgore visits Steve Berg to check on progress on the Shiva vaccines. He instructs Berg to set up an aerosol control test—a test that would infect groups of monkeys with and without vaccines. Steve feels awful about potentially killing the monkeys.
