Point of View
The majority of “Radio Silence” is told I'm the first person perspective through the eyes of Frances. This reflection style means that the reader gets direct access to her thoughts and comes to understand her perception of the world and of herself. This is incredibly important when discussing the themes of academic pressure and self-identity. In both cases, the reader sees how Frances tries to undercut her very clear and destructive anxiety. Sometimes it's through humor, though these are often self-deprecating as she tries to justify the way she feels around others. This also means that both she and the reader are aware of every lie when she makes them, giving further depth to her character by showing what truths she wanted to avoid.
