San Francisco

San Francisco is the setting for the majority of this novel. Seema lives and works in the city of San Francisco. Her mother and sister come to visit her during the last days of her pregnancy.

Chennai

Chennai, India is the city in which Seema and Tahera were born and raised. Their parents still live there. Seema remembers the night in Chennai when she told her father that she was homosexual. Tahera continued to live with her parents in Chennai after Seema was disowned. Later, she tells Seema that their lives were diminished and depressing afterward.
