Summary
The second section introduces the reader to Le-a Brings Plenty and Squanto, lovers who lived together on the reservation. She was ready to have children, attempting to seduce him while he was on his way to work as a security guard at the Lakota Oglala Sioux Tribal Hospital. He entered the car they shared, a 1965 Chevy Impala, in which Squanto heard the weather forecast predicting cold on the reservation that had extreme weather (140). The narrator dispels the belief that the reservation is complicated by describing it as essential, and thus “it doesn’t get any more real than this” (142).
