Summary
Maja reviews the past in Chapter 24, trying to understand what happened. After her return from the Mediterranean with Sebastian, everyone, except Samir, thought Sebastian and Maja made a natural couple. Her later involvement with Samir marked a turning point, after which everything changed. In her jail cell, she allows herself to think only of Amanda, Samir, and Sebastian and finds solace in isolation. Thinking about Lina makes her feel terrible. Chapter 25 finds Maja on her way to the courtroom for the second week of the trial, the week that Sander will tell her version of events.
Sander begins with Maja's denial of responsibility and refutes each of the prosecutor's charges. First, he argues that Sebastian fits the profile of a mass murderer, but Maja doesn't. Second, the surveillance video outside the Fagermans home shows that Maja was not there at the time Claes...
