Summary
Chapter 26. Sylvie (Queenie’s mum) visits, nervously making a joke about the obsession with cleanliness in the house before revealing her news: the court case she has been fighting, to get her money back from Roy, is over, and she has won. She does not get everything back because Roy has spent so much of it, but she gets a lot. Queenie feels relief that she does not have to testify, but worries that she does not feel relief that the case itself is over. Sylvie hands over a check for a large amount of money, saying that Queenie can use it to set herself up in a new life.
