Summary
The sun rises the next morning and shines through a tiny window above Amal’s bed. Amal wonders if Jeremy Mathis has woken up, too. A female officer tells Amal to shower and go to breakfast before his meeting with the officer and social worker. Amal meets with Stanford who asks him questions about his happiness and his anger. Amal then meets with Cheryl-Ann Buford, the superintendent of the facility. She tells him that he has the option to take classes to receive his high school diploma and he agrees. Amal thinks about the summer art program that Ms. Rinaldi had helped him prepare for that he will now be unable to attend.
Mr. Bradley is the math teacher at the facility, but Amal feels as though the math is too easy for him. One of the other boys, Kadon, disrupts the class...
