Structure
Proof of heaven consists of a prologue, 35 chapters, and two appendices. The chapters vary in length between as few as 2 pages and as many as 13 pages, with the majority in the range of 5-10 pages. The prologue introduces the author to readers and presents an overview of his beliefs, which he has formed based on his experiences as both a scientist and a survivor of a terminal illness.
The majority of the chapters in the main narrative alternate between two parallel stories. The first is the story of what is going on in the physical world, primarily in the hospital, while Alexander is sick. The second narrative is the story of what Alexander is experiencing during the coma in the spiritual world.
