Point of View
This story is told from the viewpoints of various characters, each of whom brings his unique perspective to the novel. These narrators each tell what they know, or think they know, about Moore’s murder from the first-person point of view. Consider Keyana’s first section of narration: “I thought I could believe in J.B. because I could feel how much he liked me” (8). Consider also Nurse Robin’s narration: “Don’t get me wrong, I care about the work. It’s this place that I can’t stand” (10) as well as “I sit in class waiting for Mr. Finley to let us line up for dismissal. We’re not supposed to move until the teacher holds up their index finger, but from the back of the class it’s hard to see” (29) by J.B. Each of these narrators brings a different level...
