Summary
In Chapter 9, Yanek was deported from the ghetto. He described how all of his family members were taken before him, and he was the last to go. He was sent to Plaszów camp to work in the tailor shop there, a few miles outside of Krakow. He is shepherded into the camp by German soldiers with machine guns, then to his place of work by the kapo, or the Jewish prisoners put in charge of the other prisoners. He also learned of the different groups persecuted by the Germans and sent to the camps as well, each wearing different identification according to the group they belonged to.
