It's the night of the ball celebrating Princess Amelia's first visit to Genovia. Grandmere has made a big deal about getting the right dress and getting her hair right. Grandmere tells Amelia that it's her chance to make up for the six-pack-bottle-nose-dolphin debacle from her first speech to the populace. Instead, Amelia finds out that her grandmother simply wanted her to dance with Prince Rene for the Newsweek reporter that's doing a story.
Amelia is on the private jet back to New York with Grandmere instead of her father. Amelia believes her grandmother is only coming with her to continue to torture her, but Grandmere told her father it was because her princess lessons need to continue.
