Chapters 5 through 8 Summary
In Chapter five, Ben says she is always hungry though she has three meals a day plus tea, and is never in danger of starvation. However, with the exception of the rare times she has access to the hampers of food, she is never fully satisfied. Sophia often insists Ben have only a small portion of the meal served to Sophia, and demands that Ben not finish before Sophia, who eats daintily and slowly. One day Ben is called away from dance class with Monsieur Grosbouche. Even though she's pleased to escape the dreaded dance class, she knows she's probably in trouble. Sophia produces the hamper which is often filled with food and left for Ben. Ben claims she has never seen it before but it's obvious Sophia doesn't believe her.
