Chapter Twenty-one and Chapter Twenty-two Summary
In Chapter Twenty-one a winter storm keeps the girls and the bandits trapped in the school. The girls have been separated from Olana and Knut. They realize that no one will be coming to help them, especially after Miri's conversation with Peder and the snowfall. The bandits begin to eat through the food supply, feeding the girls only meager porridge. Dan plans to stay in the school until the storm breaks, then march the girls to the bandits' camp to wait for the king's ransom money.
