Summary
Patricia and her husband Jason have just returned to live with her parents after twelve years away. Patricia’s mother tells them about how she and her husband had to take a Psychopath Test before they allowed him to become a priest. Patricia explains that her father is a unique exception to a firm ecclesiastical rule: he is a married Catholic priest.
Patricia flashes back to recount her parents’ meeting in high school. Her mother was always a Catholic but her father was not initially religious. He found God after their marriage while on a tour with the Navy and soon became a Lutheran minister.
