Hanna Marin
Hanna used to be an overweight girl who was uncomfortable in her own skin. Alison bullied her and boys did not like her. She transformed herself into a beautiful and popular girl after Alison disappeared, but she never resolved any of her interior self-esteem issues.
Hanna is in love with Sean, and wants desperately to get him back. She loved him when she was overweight and young, because he was kind to her, even then. She feels as if losing him means that she has lost her new self.
Hanna suffers from an eating disorder. Although she does not consider herself bulimic, because she tries hard not to throw up, she never received proper treatment, and she occasionally slips when she is stressed or emotional. She also has body dysmorphia, and suffers through hallucinations.
