Part 2, The Cure: Chapters 20-23 Summary
In Crusher, Zane, Fausto, and Tally go to a mechanical shed where Zane says he has a plan to remove the cuffs. Zane wants to use a machine called a crusher to smash the cuffs off of their hands. However, both Fausto and Tally worry that even if they can get around the safety measures built into the machine that the machine will miss the cuff and liquefy the bones in their arms. Tally knows that this is their only choice, however. As Tally is about to push the buttons on the machine to crush Zane's cuff, she gets an idea. There is a glass blower at the other end of the room using a fire to heat up the glass. Tally asks the woman about the gloves she is wearing. The woman tells her...
